World Wetlands Day 2026
Insight into the Projects of our 4th Project Idea Competition in Latin America
In celebration of the World Wetlands Day 2026, our local project partners offer insights into their current projects for conservation of coastal wetlands along the arid-semiarid Pacific coast of Chile, Peru, and Ecuador through this jointly elaborated video.
With the launch of the 4th Project Idea Competition exactly one year ago, nine projects received financial and technical support from us. These projects are being implemented with a shared vision for the entire chain of coastal wetlands by local civil society organizations, universities and other partners.
The course is being set by an action plan that was jointly developed among regional partners with participation by the ministries for environment of the three countries involved. Together, the projects are making fundamental contributions to the protection of these unique ecosystems, the preservation of biological diversity, and the well-being of local communities.
