Neretva Science Week 2022 in Bosnia & Herzegovina

Results document over 1,000 animal and plant species

In June 2022, 50 scientists from all over Europe spent a week investigating the local biodiversity of the River Neretva in Bosnia & Herzegovina during a multidisciplinary expedition.

Natura SloveniaeThe final results have been published in the Science Journal "Natura Slovenia" at the end of 2023.

The 13 contributions published in this special issue of Natura Sloveniae, dedicated to results of the Neretva Science Week 2022, draw an impressive picture of high biodiversity in a precious vastly unassessed ecosystem. Altogether, more than 1000 species of animals and plants were documented, and dozens of them are protected under various laws, with many endemic species and several species new to science.
